New: Society for Word of Mouth
With spending on word-of-mouth marketing expected to reach $3.7 billion by 2011 (Ad Age), it’s time for you to start dipping your toes into the WOM waters, if not diving in. A great place for you to start will be to join the Society for Word of Mouth, a new venture started by Ben McConnell and Jackie Huba of Citizen Marketers fame.

SWOM takes a page from the Facebook model – you create your own page, add friends, and can even blog some posts that can be shared with the entire community. It’s a place for individuals to learn more about WOM, contribute content, and make some great connections. SWOM has grown to 240 member in the two weeks since its launch. I think we’ll hit 1000 members by March 31st; Ben says if we do, he’ll buy me a Tex-Mex lunch the next time I’m in Austin.
Why not join SWOM and become an official “swomie?” You can be in on the ground floor of a very special organization of great minds. And spread the word… that’s what we’re all about, right?

Hi Michele, thank you for posting about SWOM here.
